FREDERICK CHARLES PULSFORD commenced his training with the Blaenavon Iron and Steel Company, and during the six years he was in their service he took special interest in foundry practice.
From 1894 to 1897 he studied the costing and commercial side of engineering whilst engaged with various firms.
He subsequently entered the costing department of Messrs. Ashwell and Nesbit of Leicester, for whom he was presently sent to America to study iron foundry practice and the manufacture of steam appliances in that country.
Upon his return he was appointed manager of his company's foundry and engineering works at Leicester.
In 1904 he took part in the erection of their new works, built on the outskirts of Leicester, and successively became secretary, joint managing director with Mr. D. M. Nesbit, and, in 1919, managing director.
Mr. Pulsford took out patents in connexion with water-softening processes, rotary pumps, etc., and was responsible for establishing the manufacture of semi-rotary pumps and other specialities in his company's works.
He was born in 1873 and his death occurred on 1st March 1932.
He had been an Associate Member of the Institution since 1905.
