In 1846 the Paisley and Renfrew Railway agreed to be taken over by the Paisley, Barrhead and Hurlet Railway.

The Paisley, Barrhead and Hurlet Railway never managed to build their own railway and the Paisley and Renfrew Railway changed hands several times
