1851 Living at 26 Watling Street, London: John Powis (age 30 born Knighton, Radnorshire), Ironmonger and Engineer employing two men (and unmarried). Also Stanley James (age 33 born Worcester), ironmonger (and Unmarried); and William Crowther, age 15 born Stafford), Shopman.[1]

1871 Living at 14 Ely Place, Finsbury: Jabus S. James (age 55 born Worcester), Mechanical Engineer employing about 100 hands. With his wife Ann James (age 42 born Radnorshire). Also his niece Blanche E. Bale (age 19 born Ashford, Salop). Also a visitor and two servants. [2]
