1954 Bio Note [1]

Dr. Furber graduated with honours in mechanical engineering in 1943 at the College of Technology, Manchester, after which he joined Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Derby, as technical assistant, and worked on the aerodynamic testing of turbine and compressor blade cascades, diffusers, etc.

In 1946 he was appointed to the lecturing staff of the College of Technology, Manchester, and undertook research on heat transfer and allied subjects. Dr. Furber was awarded the degree of M.Sc.Tech. in 1948, and the degree of Ph.D. in 1953.
