1954 Bio Note [1]

Mr. McKean obtained the Engineering Diploma, with distinction, at The Royal Technical College, Glasgow, and was apprenticed to British Auxiliaries, Ltd., before graduating B.Sc., with honours, at Glasgow University.

He was commissioned in the R.E.M.E. and was in charge of a large tank repair workshop during the campaign in North-West Europe. During his Army career Mr. McKean took a responsible part in the design and construction of an internal combustion engine repair line capable of completely overhauling 500 engines a month, and was subsequently in charge of Armament and General Workshops at Warminster.

Shortly after the termination of his Army service, he took an appointment at the Research Station of Babcock and Wilcox, Ltd., where he has been in charge of Mechanical Engineering Research during the past six years.
