B. T. Turner, MSc, MICE, MBIM, Fellow, was educated at King's College School, Wimbledon, and London University where he took his BSc and MSc. Previously he had been articled to a firm of consulting civil engineers.
During the 1939-45 war he worked on radar and gun-laying devices with Nash and Thompson and other firms.
After a period with Ascot Gas Water Heaters, he joined ICI, Billingham, in 1947. In 1950 he was involved with Saunders-Roe on aircraft equipment systems. He became a project engineer with English Electric Aviation (BAC) on guided weapons until 1960, when he took up a new appointment as Assistant Director of Engineering with English Electric where he was concerned with the better use of technical manpower and later quality control problems.
In 1964 he became Principal of the Company's staff training centre. He is a Director of INCOMTEC Ltd and Professor of Industrial Management at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
