WILLIAM BEVERLEY BOYD, a pioneer electric power expert, died in July, 1941, at his home in Toronto, Ontario, aged 70 years. Until his retirement several years ago, he was President of the Dominion Alloy Steel Corporation.
His early association with electrical engineering began in 1893 with the Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Co. in Pittsburgh. From 1897 to 1901 he was with the Illinois Steel Co. of Chicago, after which he became associated with Sir William Mackenzie, serving as Chief Engineer for many of Sir William's enterprises.
From 1910 to 1916 he was Engineer of the Dominion Iron and Steel Co., Sydney, Nova Scotia, and subsequently held engineering positions with the Toronto and York Radial Railway, Sudbury-Copper Cliff Electric Railway, Howard Smith Paper Mills, and the Maple Leaf Milling Co. For some years he was a member of the Ontario Railway and Munitions Board.
He was elected a Member of The Institution in 1910.
