George Ledgard Bristow ( -1901)

1902 Obituary [1]

GEORGE LEDGARD BRISTOW, who died at his residence at Haslemere on the 19th of September, 1901, was a member of the firm of Wilson, Bristows and Carpmael, of Copthall Buildings, the Honorary Solicitors to the Institution.

He was admitted a solicitor in 1851, and from the earliest days took a keen personal interest in the affairs of the Institution, his firm having been annually elected Honorary Solicitors since 1873.

His genial personality was at one time better known to the members than it has been of late, when advancing years rendered it less easy for him to attend evening meetings. But, even to the last, he was always ready to give the closest and most careful attention to all the business of the Institution requiring legal advice or assistance, and the Institution has, in him, lost a good friend and a wise counsellor who, often at personal inconvenience, rendered constant and valuable assistance during a long term of nearly thirty years.

Mr. Bristow was elected a Member of the Institution, then the Society of Telegraph Engineers, on the 22nd of January, 1873.
