Max Strobel (c1826-1873)

1873 Obituary [1]

We regret to announce the almost sudden death, at the age of 47 years, of Major Max Strobel, an American engineer, and an eminent citizen of Los Angelos, California.

Major Strobel arrived in this country at the close of last year to negotiate the sale of some valuable mining property on the Pacific Coast, and had nearly completed his mission when he was attacked by an abscess of the lungs, which terminated in death after six days' illness.

The deceased gentleman had been for several years professionally connected with various mining districts in the Western States of America, and he had taken a prominent part in the celebrated expedition which located Fremont’s projected transcontinental line.
