1859 Advert: 'ABRAHAM HALEY, IRON AND BRASS FOUNDER, AND MACHINE MAKER, SELWOOD IRON WORKS, BUTTS HILL, FROME, BEGS to inform Parties who may require Castings, that he has established an IRON and BRASS FOUNDRY in connection with his Machine Works; and that he is now prepared to supply Castings of every description to Pattern or to Order on the shortest notice. Special Contracts given for Castings of every description, and to Plans and Specifications for Architects, Engineers, Railway Contractors, Gas Works, &c.....' (list includes gear castings and all sorts of machine tools).[1]
1859-1861 Abraham Haley was advertising as a brass and iron founder and machine maker at Selwood Iron Works, Butts Hill, Frome.[2]

MACHINERY AND PATTERNS, &c., &c., Being the remainder of his Stock-in-Trade, Comprising a six-horse STEAM BOILER: two valuable STEAM ENGINES, with boilers, three new scribbling machines; new tucker; two fullers for woollen cloths ; new broad double bead loom ; ditto narrow perpetual cutter; 30-inch Lloyd’s patent blower ; iron turning rests (planed up) ; large quantity loom fittings ; ditto various size machine bolts ; four new crank shafts for narrow looms fitted ; cast iron for steam and water ; gun metal valves : set of boring and turning gauges ; five lifting jacks and patterns ; cast and wrought iron scrap.
