Peterboro’, Belleville, Vancouver (B.C.), Brandon (Man.), and other | |||
places. The valuable assistance rendered during an outbreak of | |||
diphtheria at St. John’s, Newfoundland, was such that he was | |||
solicited by the authorities of that city to accept the position of | |||
City Engineer, which, however, he declined. | |||

to obtain such legislation as would make the Society a | |||

enthusiastic and earnest advocate of professional ethics in the | |||
Society, and a perusal of the transactions of that body will show | |||

ALAN MACDOUGALL, third son of the late Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdougall, was born in India on the 22nd May, 1842.
After being educated at a private school, and at the Edinburgh Academy, he was articled in 1859 to Mr. Charles Jopp, who was at that time carrying out various works for the North British Railway Company.
