Alan Reginald Boyle (1886-1958), an early aviator

1886 Born in Ayr, youngest son of the Earl of Glasgow.

1910 Gained his aviator's certificate at Brooklands[1]

1910 Accident at the Bournemouth Meeting. 'On Saturday afternoon it was reported that the Hon. Alan Boyle on his Avis monoplane had met with serious accident, having fallen into a ploughed field at Southbourne, east Bournemouth, and suffered concussion of the brain.....His condition yesterday was serious, and gave rise to great anxiety. He was unconscious nearly all yesterday.'[2]

1911 Living at 9 Montpelier Square, London, SW: Daniel Earl of Glasgow (age 78 born Edinburgh). With his wife Dora Countess of Glasgow (age 60 born Edinburgh) and their two sons The Honourable John Boyle (age 26 born (?), Ayrshire) and The Honourable Alan Boyle (age 24 born Ayr). Six servants.[3]

WWI Lieutenant in 6th Royal Scots Fusiliers, also served in RFC and RAF[4]

1916 Married in Redhill to Isabel Julia Hull[5]

1919 The Hon Alan Reginald Boyle lived in Putney[6]

1951 Returned from Tanganyika with his wife; living in Midlothian[7]

1958 Died
