1886 Born in Ayr, youngest son of the Earl of Glasgow.
1910 Gained his aviator's certificate at Brooklands[1]
1910 Accident at the Bournemouth Meeting. 'On Saturday afternoon it was reported that the Hon. Alan Boyle on his Avis monoplane had met with serious accident, having fallen into a ploughed field at Southbourne, east Bournemouth, and suffered concussion of the brain.....His condition yesterday was serious, and gave rise to great anxiety. He was unconscious nearly all yesterday.'[2]
