"The bate Mr. Albert Aichele.—Mr. Albert Aichele, who died last month, was for more than thirty years a prominent member of the firm of Messrs. Brown, Boveri and Co., of Baden, Switzerland, and during a long portion of that period electro-technical director of the firm. Born at Lorrach in 1865 he- was - educated at Lausanne and Basel and studied at Zurich, and later at Munchen. First connected with the Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon, and especially with the winding department of that firm, which in those days was the envy of competitors, he went over to South America to supervise his firm’s share in the work on the Transandine railway. Returning to Europe, he joined the Baden firm,, being a friend of Mr. C. E. L. Brown, as chief of the testing department. Aichele originated many improvements both in electric machinery and in the construction of automobiles, with which he became likewise prominently connected. He was a man of rare modesty and kindliness, whose early death is very widely regretted; a weak heart put a sudden end to his life."
