Alexander Ferrie Mabon was born in 1856, the son of Robert Mabon and Susan Ferrie. He died in 1934.

A Surveying Instrument Maker, described as an Optician at the time of his death. Held Patent for 'Improvements in Perforating Machines'.

1911 Census: Family living at 405 Sauchihall Street, Glasgow.

1900 Mabon, Alex. Ferrie, mathematical instrument maker, 104 Renfrew Street. House 250 Hope St. (Annual Glasgow Directory 1900-01)

1911 Mabon, Alex. Ferrie, Optician (of Alex Mabon & Sons, 95 West Campbell St., House 405 Sauchihall St. (PO Annual Glasgow Directory 1911-12:)

1934 Alex died. He was a 77 year old optician living at 132 Holland Street, Glasgow at time of death. Son Jesse Dickson Mabon registered his father's death
