ALEXANDER E. TUCKER died on March 28, 1924, at Sutton Coldfield, at the age of seventy.
He was educated at the City of London Schools and the University College. He commenced his early training under Edward Riley, the well-known consulting chemist of London.
He served as chief chemist of the Rhymney Iron and Steel Works, and as steelworks manager of Bolckow, Vaughan & Co.
For the past forty years he had been practising in Birmingham as analytical and consulting chemist.
He was a Fellow of the Institute of Chemistry, a Fellow of the Chemical Society, a member of the Society of Chemical Industry, and Past-President of the Staffordshire Iron and Steel Institute. He also acted as official analyst to the London Metal Exchange.
He contributed numerous papers to various technical societies and trade publications. He was the author of two important papers read before the Institute on "Analytical Methods."
He took an active part in the Proceedings of the Institute, and was elected a member in 1880.
