Alfred Wiseman and Co of Birmingham, maker of gears and industrial locomotives

1933. Company name changed from Alfred Wiseman to Alfred Wiseman and Co (1933). They specialised in gears, including industrial locomotive and marine gear boxes. [1]

1940 Advertising as Alfred Wiseman and Co., Glover Street, Bordesley.[2]

c.1950 Equipment for overhead wiring for trolley buses - catalogue showed an example of their use in Wolverhampton[3]

During the 1950s Alfred Wiseman & Co supplied type 15RLGB transmissions for 153hp & 204hp shunting locomotives made for British Railways by Barclays of Kilmarnock in 1956-8. They also supplied gears for Baguley-Drewry and Thomas Hill locomotives. [4]

1962 Ruston and Hornsby acquired Alfred Wiseman and Co, and planned to use spare capacity at Grantham and merge the two companies' gear making operations.[5].
