ARTHUR EDWARD MARRIAN was born at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on the 24th October 1874.
He was educated at the North London Collegiate School, afterwards serving in the drawing office of the General Electric Power and Traction Co., Kentish Town, the drawing office and shops of the British Gas Engine and Engineering Co., Gospel Oak, and the London and India Dock Co.
In 1902 he entered the Civil Engineer-in-Chief's Department of the Admiralty as an Assistant Civil Engineer, and he was appointed in that capacity to H.M. Dockyards at Chatham, Walmer (1901), Gibraltar (1906), Devonport (1910).
He was promoted to Civil Engineer in 1911, and served at the Admiralty from 1913, Dover from 1919, and Portland, 1923, where his death took place on 10th February 1924, in his fiftieth year.
He became an Associate Member of this Institution in 1902.
