LIEUT.-COLONEL ARTHUR HILL HOLME, born in 1841 at Liverpool, died there on the 8th July, 1912, aged 71.
In early life he was occupied on surveys in Australia and in business in Liverpool.
In 1880 he formed, with Mr. C. W. King, the firm of Holme and King, Contractors, and carried out a number of important railway, dock, and waterworks contracts in the North of England.
He was a Justice of the Peace, member of the Liverpool City Council, and director of many public companies. He retired from the 1st Lancashire Rifles, after 21 years’ service, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.
Colonel Holme was elected an Associate of The Institution on the 6th March, 1877.
