"ARTHUR LYNDON LAWRENCE, Who died on 1st June 1939, had spent the whole of his engineering career with Messrs. Dewrance and Company. He was appointed general manager of Messrs. Dewrance and Company in 1919, and managing director of the private company of Messrs. Dewrance and Company, Ltd., in 1938. He was president of the Engineering and Allied Employers London and District Association from 1934 to 1936. He also served on the government committee under the chairmanship of Lord Amulree to inquire into the question of holidays with pay.
Mr. Lawrence was born in London in 1883, and went to Rugby School. From there he proceeded to Trinity College, Cambridge, and took his B.A. degree in 1905. In this year he joined Messrs. Dewrance, and was promoted to be assistant to the general manager in 1908. He was elected a Member of the Institution in 1922.
