ARTHUR ROBERTSON was born in Cardiff on 3rd August 1876.
He was educated in that city and at Hereford Cathedral School, and then served an apprenticeship of five years in the works of the Taff Vale Railway Co.
On its completion in 1897 he went as a sea-going engineer for several years, rising to Chief Engineer, and in 1907 joined the Staff of Messrs. G. Harland Bowden and Co., Red Lion Cement Works, Northfleet.
In the following year he was appointed Superintendent Engineer to the Rising Sun Petroleum Co., Ltd., in Yokohama, and held this post until his death, which occurred through the collapse of a building in the Japanese earthquake on 1st September 1923, at the age of forty-seven.
He became an Associate Member of this Institution in 1914.
