AUBREY GRANTHAM was born at Grantham in 1893 and apprenticed with Messrs. Richard Hornsby and Sons from 1909 to 1914.
Soon after the outbreak of war he joined the Middlesex Regiment and afterwards received a commission in the Royal Engineers. He rose to the rank of major and received the Croix de Guerre with silver star for work accomplished in connexion with bridge building under gunfire.
In 1919 he rejoined Messrs. Ruston and Hornsby and in the following year was appointed manager of the mechanical engineering department of their agents in Calcutta, Messrs. Martin and Company, engineers and contractors.
He died on 12th December 1929 and had been elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1928.
