Bayer AG is a German multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company
1863 Partnership "Friedr. Bayer et comp." was founded on August 1, 1863 in Barmen - now a district of the city of Wuppertal - by dye salesman Friedrich Bayer (1825–1880) and master dyer Johann Friedrich Weskott (1821–1876). The objective of the company was to manufacture and sell synthetic dyestuffs.
Now its headquarters are in Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, where its illuminated sign is a landmark.
Bayer's primary areas of business include human and veterinary pharmaceuticals; consumer healthcare products; agricultural chemicals and biotechnology products; and high value polymers.
