1822 Advert: 'TO BE LET OR SOLD, THE DON CAST IRON FOUNDERY, situate on the Bank of the navigable River Dun, near the Mill Bridge, Doncaster; with the new Steam Engine, Blowing Engine, Cast Metal Boxes, Models of Various kinds, with all the Working Tools, and every requisite for carrying on the Business of a Cast Iron Founder, with any other requiring room, and easy access to the River. The whole of the Premises are nearly new. and have been occupied by Copley and Hirst, and Wm. Hirst, and may be entered to immediately. Further Particulars may be known of Messrs. John Darwin and Co. Chapel Town Iron Works; Messrs. Newton, Chambers, and Co. Thornclilfe Iron Works, Messrs. Longden, Walker, and Co. Phoenix Foundery, Sheffield ; or Messrs. Mason and Solicitors, Doncaster; or Messrs. Wm. Co. Timber Merchants, Doncaster, of whom Price &c. may be known.'[1]
