1906 Built the Briar Mill. 'Another serious accident Saturday afternoon at the Briar Mill, Shaw, now in course of erection'[1]

1916 'Mr. W. K. Slater. M. Sc.. son of Mr. James Slater, manager of the Briar Mill, Shaw, has been appointed junior assistant lecturer in chemistry at Manchester University.'[2]

1920 Reformed as Briar Mill (1920)

1949 Fire at Briar Mill, Shaw.[3]

1953 'The Lancashire Cotton Corporation, the world's biggest spinning combine, have bought the Briar Mill. Shaw, Lancs, which contains more than 120,000 spindles.'[4]
