1859 James Howard and Frederick Howard opened the Britannia Iron Works in Kempston Road, Bedford as a manufactory of steel ploughs.
1868 James and Frederick Howard occupied the Britannia Iron Works, Bedford.[1]
1932 The assets of James and Frederick Howard were sold.
1933 Georg Fischer of Schaffhausen, Switzerland, bought Britannia Iron and Steel Works Ltd. of Bedford and began to produce malleable cast iron fittings in Britain. See Georg Fischer (+GF+) History webpages.
