1956 British Nylon Spinners licensed British Enka and British Celanese to make Nylon 6[1]. British Enka exploited this in The Netherlands, Germany, Italy and USA.
1960 Announced plans for joint venture with Algemene Kuntszijde Unie N.V. (A.K.U.) to establish a UK factory to make nylon yarn and nylon textiles
1960 British Enkalon was formed to produce nylon yarns and plastic materials in Northern Ireland[2]
1961 Public company floated - British Enkalon; 55 percent of the equity was taken up by the Dutch parent, A.K.U.[3]; the other shares were offered to holders of British Enka stock.
1963 New Nylon 6 plant opened in Co. Antrim
