1933 The Institution of Radio Engineers was formed

1930s The Institution changed its name to British Institution of Radio Engineers

1941 The Institute of Wireless Technology was absorbed by the British Institution of Radio Engineers

1964 The British Institution of Radio Engineers (Brit IRE) changed its name to the Institution of Electronic and Radio Engineers (IERE).
