1936 Established to deal with the export business handled by the British Steel Export Association[1]

1937 Launched a campaign to collect scrap iron from households[2]. As the trading arm of the British Iron and Steel Federation entered into a contract for supply of iron ore from Brazil[3]. Began bulk purchase of pig iron from India and the USA[4]

Subsidiary British Iron and Steel Corporation (Salvage) Ltd

1940 Moved head office to Leamington[5]

Post-1948: might be confused with the Iron and Steel Corporation of Great Britain

1950 Continued to purchase ships for scrapping[6]

post-1967: after the formation of the British Steel Corporation to own the nationalized industry, the British Iron and Steel Federation was dissolved[7]
