Bryce Allan, steamship owner of Liverpool

1812 Born in Ardrossan, son of Alexander Allan (1780-1854)

The increase of their fleets enabled the Allans to establish a branch of their service at Liverpool, and an emergency there required the continued presence in the agency there of a member of the family, Bryce, who had been in command of one of the ships, who then withdrew from the sea and took charge of the Liverpool branch.
