Compagnie Générale d'Electricité (CGE)
1898 The company was formed by the French engineer Pierre Azaria in the Alsace region of what was then Germany; it was a conglomerate that became involved in industries such as electricity, transportation, electronics and telecommunications.
1978 Formation of CGE Alsthom UK (presumably similar in France and elsewhere.
CGE would become a leader in digital communications and would also be known for producing the TGV high-speed trains in France.
1987 CGE Alsthom UK became part of Alsthom International Ltd
1989 Formed GEC Alsthom, a 50/50 joint venture with GEC
2000 Alsthom International became Alstom International
2008 Became Alstom Network Ltd, of London
