Central Electricity Authority
As a result of the Electricity Reorganisation (Scotland) Act 1954, the British Electricity Authority was replaced on 1 April 1955 by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) for England and Wales.
At the same time, the organisation of the electricity supply industry in England and Wales was subjected to a review.
1957 As a result of the review, the 1957 Electricity Act provided for two new statutory bodies, the Electricity Council and the Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB), to replace the CEA.
1958 The CEA was dissolved on 1st January 1958.
