Charing Cross Bridge
1931 After much discussion the London County Council decided to promote a Bill for the construction of a road bridge, subject to the Government providing 75 per cent. of the cost. The Government, however, decided that it was not prepared to renew this offer, and as a result, Charing Cross Bridge was not built but Waterloo Bridge was demolished and replaced by a new bridge to carry six lines of traffic.[1]
