Charles Bodley (1789-1856) of W. C. and C. Bodley

1789 Born at Exeter, the son of George Bodley and his wife Ann Parkin

1817 Married at Exeter to Ann Gaul

1848 Insolvent. 'CHARLES BODLEY, late No 5, Friars' Walk, in the Parish of the Holy Trinity, in the City of Exeter, out of Business, before then of the same place, Coal and General Merchant, and Ship Owner, previously of the same place, Coal and General Merchant and Ship Owner; also carrying on business in partnership William Canute Bodley, at the Bonhay, in the same City, under the style or firm of W. C. and C. Bodley," as Iron and Brass Founders, formerly of South-street, in the same city, Grocer and Tea Dealer.'[1]

1851 Living at South Street, Exeter: Charles Bodley (age 62 born Exeter), Iron Founder. With his wife Ann Bodley (age 60 born Ottery St. Mary) and their children Emande Selley (age 29 born Exeter), Widow and Annuitant; George Bodley (age 23 born Exeter), Accountant; Eliza Bodley (age 19 born Exeter). Also his grandson Arthur Selley (age 3 born Exeter).[2]
