Charles Jones of John Jones and Sons, Marine Engine Works, William Street, Liverpool.

1839 September 10th. Born the son of John Jones in Newton-le-Willows.

1841 Living at Viaduct Foundry, Newton, Lancs: John Jones (age c40), Iron Founder and Engineer. With his wife Mary Jones (age c35) and their two children Martha Jones (age c5) and Charles Jones (age c2). Two servants.[1]

1861 Living at 54 Hamilton Square, Birkenhead: John Jones (age 59 born Liverpool?), Engineer Civil - Widower. With his sister-in-law Anne Hoult (age 44 born Liverpool). Also five of his children: Annie Jones (age 30 born Newton-le-Willows); Mary Jones (age 26 born Newton-le-Willows); Martha Jones (age 24 born Newton-le-Willows); Charles Jones (age 21 born Newton-le-Willows), Engineer; James Jones (age 19 born Newton-le-Willows), Broker's Clerk. Three servants.[2]

1865 Married Mary Hannah Wareing in Birkenhead[3]

1872 of John Jones and Sons, Marine Engine Works, William Street, Liverpool, when he became a member of I Mech E.

1881 Engineer master, Ironfounder, boiler maker, brass moulder, master iron ship repairer, employing 600 men and boys, living in Birkenhead with his wife Mary Hannah Jones[4]

1883 Resigned from I Mech E

1891 Master engineer and shipbuilder, living in Birkenhead with his wife Mary[5]

1911 Widower, Shipbuilder & Engine Builder, living in Birkenhead[6]
