CHARLES LINDSAY CLAUDE BOWES LYON, born on the 15th September, 1885, was killed in action near Ypres on the 23rd October, 1914.
Educated at Eton and the University of Durham, he gained his early practical experience under Messrs. Swan, Hunter and Wigham Richardson and Messrs. Scott and Mountain.
In 1911 he went nut to Bombay as an assistant to Messrs. Turner, Hoare and Company, and returning home in 1914, was one of the few survivors of the wreck of the “Empress of Ireland” in the St. Lawrence.
On the outbreak of war he joined the 1st Battalion of the Black Watch and served as a Lieutenant in the early campaign in France.
He was elected an Associate Member on the 4th April, 19 11.
