1823 The Company built the steamers City of Dublin and Town of Liverpool to carry passengers across the Irish See. The venture was such a success that more capital was soon justified for more ships - these were the Hibernia, Britannia, Manchester and Leeds.

The firm of Williams and Co. was then merged into the firm of the City of Dublin Steam Packet Company. with Charles Wye Williams as Managing Director.
