1927 'The proprietors of “The Chronicle” announce that the firm has been registered as a private company under the title ‘of “The Chester Chronicle and Associated Newspapers, Ltd.” The conduct and management of the paper will continue as heretofore. The chairman of the new Company is Mr. F. Coplestone, C.B.E., the Editor, and Mr. Charles Smith is managing director. The directors are Mr. K. Coplestone, C.B.E., Mr. Charles Smith, and Mr Harry Smith. The secretary of the Company is Mc. W. H Humphreys, Old Bank Buildings, Chester, and Messrs. Jolliffe and Hope are the solicitors.'[1]
