1809 Advert: 'Excellent Machinery, etc. To be SOLD by AUCTION, by Mr GOODIER at a Factory late in the occupation of the Chorlton Twist Company, situate near Oxford Road, Manchester, on Wednesday the day 9th day of August, 1809, comprising 26 Carding Engines, 18 inches, with cards, 11 ditto ditto, 40 ditto, with ditto, 5 Stretchers. 96 spindles each, 2 of 120 spindles each, and 1 of 90 spindles; 9 drawing frames, 8 boxes each, 9 roving frames, of 4 and 5 boxes each ; 1 ditto ditto, 6 ditto,1 ditto ditto, six boxes , 18 mules 348 spindles each, 16 inch rollers; 28 ditto, 180 ditto ditto, 16 ditto ; 4 Twisting Frames, 100 spin- dles each, 1 of 120 and 1 of 128 spindles; 70 cop and 8 bobbin reels, from 20 to 80 spindles; a number cotton cans, skeleton cans, doffing tins, skips of all sorts, bobbins, straps, counter drums, gallowses, &c. also one double cylindered devil, nearly new.
Particulars will be expressed in catalogues, which may be had of the Auctioneer, 6, Green-street ; and the whole may viewed the day before the sale, by applying on the premises. Sale to begin at ten o'clock.'[1]
