Cochran and Co built a range of boilers, especially vertical boilers suitable for ancillary (Donkey) uses on ships.
1878 Business established - Cochran and Co - at Birkenhead.
c.1900 The company moved to Annan

Took licence for Sinuflo technology.

1926 They changed the address of their London office from 7c Lower Belgrave-Street, S.W.1. to 137, Victoria-Street, S.W.1.[3]
1937 Listed Exhibitor - British Industries Fair. Cochran Vertical Coal Fired Boiler, 7ft. 0in. (2.13 meters) diameter, on permanent loan to the Exhibition for heating and hot water services. Cochran Kirke Sinuflo Gas-fired Boiler and Patent Sinuflo Tubes. (Stand No. A.311)
1937 Public company; shares offered for sale but not tradable on any stock exchange[4].
1937 Listed Exhibitor - British Industries Fair. Cochran Kirke Patent "Sinuflo" Gas-fired Boiler, 1ft 6in. (0.46 meter) diameter, 6ft. 3in. (1.9 meters) fitted with complete automatic equipment. Steam output 150lbs (68.04 kilos) from and at 212⁰F (100⁰C). (Stand Nos. Ca.709 and Ca.608) [5]

WWII: constructed pumps, air bottles for marine diesels, and parts for the Mulberry Harbour[7].

By 1949 seems to have had Ruths Accumulators (Cochran) as a subsidiary
1961 Engineers and boiler makers. 700 employees. [9]
1964 Manufactured distillation column for Shell's Stannlow refinery which was delivered by floating it by sea.
1968 Acquired the shell boiler busines of Ruston and Hornsby; rights issue needed to pay for it[10].
1969 John Thompson took over Cochran and Co which would give them half of the UK market for industrial packaged boilers. Merged with Thompson's shell boiler business as Thompson Cochran[11].
