Maker of compressed air and hard rock mining machinery, of Slough

1968 The International Compressed Air Corporation was formed from the merger of Broom and Wade and Holman Brothers, with the encouragement of the Industrial Reorganisation Corporation[1]. Principal tradenames: Broomwade, Holman and Maxam[2]

1972 Acquired Hydrovane Compressor Co and its related German company from Chloride[3]

1974 Change of group name to Compair[4]; principal subsidiaries were[5]:

  • CompAir Industrial (previously Broom and Wade, and Reavell)
  • Compair Maxam (previously Maxam Power and Hamilton Controllers)
  • Compair Construction and Mining (previously Holman Brothers)

1974 Mr B. K. Holmes became a director of Compair Industrial.[6]

1974 Developed a rotary screw air compressor range marketed under the BroomWade RotorAir name.[7]

1985 Siebe acquired Compair.

2008 Gardner-Denver Co acquired Compair
