His Excellency the COUNT DE ZUBIRIA died on September 21, 1932.


For many years he had held a leading position in the heavy iron and steel industry of Vizcaya, and was a member of the board of directors of Altos Hornos de Vizcaya, among other large industrial concerns. For more than twenty years he had sat in the Spanish Cortes and in the Senate for the Province of Vizcaya. His title was conferred on him in 1907.
Those who attended the Autumn Meeting of the Iron and Steel Institute at Bilbao, in 1928, will remember him as the President of the Reception Committee. On the evening of Thursday, September 27, the Count and Countess de Zubiria received the members of the party at a Garden Party at their country mansion at Ibarrecolanda. The most elaborate and complete arrangements were made for the reception and entertainment of the guests.
It was at this Meeting in Spain that the Count de Zubiria was elected an Honorary Member of the Iron and Steel Institute; he had been a member since 1883.
