1926 Robert Stanley Dalgleish, a Newcastle shipowner, purchased the Blyth Shipbuilding and Dry Docks Co in November. The yard's name was changed to Cowpen Dry Docks and Shipbuilding Co. The yard was amalgamated with Ritson's Shipbuilding and Engineering Co
