1867 The Strathearn Hydropathic Company Limited was incorporated, one of the earliest surviving Scottish limited companies. It remains a private company with continuing family involvement
The first physician and manager was Thomas Henry Meikle. Naturally, water-based therapies were available and there was a strong Protestant religious atmosphere, with punctuality at meal times enforced with fines. Connections with clergy were strong, with subsidised rates being available to Church of Scotland ministers. Alcoholic beverages were unavailable until the end of the 20th century.
1968 The company name changed to Strathearn Hydro Limited
1985 With a further change of name, the company became Crieff Hydro Limited
