1890 'KNIGHT AND CROWTHER, LIMITED. We understand that a prospectus is being privately issued with regard to the amalgamation of the important firms of [[John Knight and Co]]. and Crowther Bros. and Co., who will trade as [[Knight and Crowther]], Limited. The company is formed to carry on and develop the well-known business of John Knight and Co, of the [[Cookley Ironworks]], Brierley Hill, whose business was established nearly two hundred years ago, and enjoys a worldwide reputation for its brands of tin and tern plates, tin sheets, and charcoal iron and steel sheets. <br>The business was for many years carried on, as many of our readers are aware, at Cookley, and it has only recently been transferred to the Brierley Hill district. The manufacturing business of Crowther Bros. and Co., of Stour Vale and [[Falling Sand Ironworks]], Kidderminster, holds an important name for manufacturers of a similar character to these of Messrs. John Knight and Co. The businesses are stated to be practically confined to the manufacture of specialities, which makes them independent of the ordinary fluctuations in trade. <br>The registered share capital of the company is £100,000. ....... Mr. T. Lea, M.P., of Kidderminster, and Lord Ernest Seymour are trustees for the debenture holders ; and the directors of the company are Mr. Clement Crowther, Kidderminster (chairman), Mr. T. Tempest-Radford (Bevere Manor, Worcester), Mr. J. Satchell Hopkins (Birmingham), Mr. Henry Taylor (Alcester House, Nottingham), Mr. Donald McArthur (Bristol), and Mr. A. J. Ledwith (Kidderminster), the latter being the managing director of the works. Mr. George Scriven, of Stourbridge and Nottingham, is the auditor to the company: and Messrs. Margetts and Addenbrook of 95, Colmore Row, Birmingham, are the brokers. The offices of the company will be at Kidderminster, and the secretaryship is entrusted to Mr. F. D. Plum.
