1798 March 4th. Born at Haworth

1829 July 22nd. Married at Leeds to Mary Ann Greenwood

1841 Living at Rodley, Leeds: David Smith (age c40), a Mill Wright. With his wife Mary Smith (age c30) and their children Nancy Smith (age c11), Hannah Smith (age c7), Sarah Smith (age c5), Thomas Smith (age c3).[1] Note: Adjoining abodes are William Balmforth, Jeremiah Balmforth and Jeremiah Booth who all listed as Mill Wright

1851 Living at Rodley, Leeds: David Smith (age 54 born Horsforth), Millwright and Iron Founder. With his wife Mary W. Smith (age 43 born Bramley) and their children Nancy Smith (age 21 born Calverley?), Yks); Sarah Smith (age 15 born Calverley?, Yks); Mary A. Smith (age 5 born Bramley); and David Smith (age 2 born Bramley).[2] Note: nearby are Joseph Booth, Jeremiah Balmforth, Jeremiah Booth and William Balmforth who are all Millwrights / Ironfounders

1859 January 7th. Died intestate, and his son, Thomas Smith, then 21 years of age, took over the direction of the firm of Balmforth, Smith and Co.
