1971 Disposal of South African subsidiary, closure of some plant and changes in management in response to losses by the engineering side of the business[6]

1973 Vickers acquired Dawson and Barfos Manufacturing, of Gomersal and Thetford, making it the largest manufacturer of bottling equipment in the UK[8]
1973 Acquired by Matthews Holdings who were broadening the range of their food business[9]
