c.1873 Company formed

1881 Negotiations were underway to amalgamate Derwent Hematite Iron Company of Workington, a company composed of a number of Scotsmen, and which had been carried on for 7 or 8 years, and the firm of Messrs. Wilson, Cammell and Co. of Dronfield Steel Works, which would move to Workington[1] - see Derwent Steel and Iron Works.
