DONALD HERBERT MACDONALD was born in London on 21st February 1897, and was educated at the Royal Naval College, Osborne, and at Uppingham School.
At the outbreak of war lie joined the London Scottish and, after serving in the ranks for eight months in France and Flanders, he was sent to Woolwich to be trained for a commission in the Royal Engineers. After considerable service in this Corps in Palestine, he reached the rank of Captain and Adjutant.
Since the War he was engaged as a draughtsman with Messrs. Hewlett and Blondeau, of Leagrave, and later became an assistant engineer at the Trafford Park Works of the Metropolitan Vickers Co.
His death, which was largely hastened by wounds received on active service, took place on 6th June 1921, at the age of twenty-four.
He became a Graduate of this Institution in 1920.
