The La Dorada Railway ran from La Dorada to Honda, connecting the Upper and the Lower Magdalena steamer services.

1905-8 A. D. Thomas was General Manager and Resident Engineer, Dorada Extension Railway built to connect Honda and Cambao, the terminus of a cart road to Bogota. The extension is 60 miles long; the gauge of the railway is 3ft. Sir Douglas Fox and Partners were the consulting engineers, S. Pearson and Son were the contractors, Mr. R. J. Money, M. Inst. C.E., was their agent and chief engineer. The extension opened in 1907.[1]
