1841 Sale notice: 'Free from Duty. — Extensive Sale at the Greenfield Iron Foundry and Fitting-up Establishment, near Holywell, Flintshire.
MR. JAMES WILLIAMS has the honour of announcing to engineers, iron founders, machinists, millwrights, blacksmiths, and others, that he has been instructed by the assignees of Messrs. Douglas, Smalley, and Co., bankrupts, to DISPOSE OF BY PUBLIC AUCTION, on the premises, on Monday. Tuesday, and Wednesday, the 3rd, 4th. and 5th days of October, 1842, at eleven o'clock precisely each day, the whole of the STOCK in TRADE, Capital Tools, Valuable Patterns. Working Implements, and Utensils belonging to the concern, which are well made, and in good working condition, comprising an excellent 10-inch slide lathe, by Whitworth and Co., with compound slide rest, regulating screw, revolving nut and change wheels for screw cutting; bed 18 feet by 15 inches-wide, complete with tools, &c; one 10-inch hand lathe, with back geering, complete with tools, &c; one 12-inch lathe for wood turning, on bed for lathes, 29-feet long, with wood cheeks plated with iron, 17½ inches wide, and supported on four iron standards, &c; moving and fast head-stocks, &c. for 11½ inch lathes; boring machine, with change speed wheels, tools, &c; fluting do., one eight horse power portable condensing engine, 6 feet beam, 2½ feet stroke (incomplete); steam-engine cylinder (with casing), 21 inches diameter, 4 feet stroke, top and seat piston, air pump, &c; ditto indicator (by M'Naught, of Glasgow), and case; hydraulic blowing machine, with geering and pipes complete: two cupolas; two drying stoves, with carriages and railway; a great variety of capital moulding boxes of different dimensions, with other moulder's implements and utensils; large triangle for breaking iron, complete; new and powerful ? crane, ditto; lever weighing machine, up to four tons; large scale beam, with centre ends, &c; cast and wrought-iron shafting, pig and other iron, useful castings, &c; an extensive and valuable assortment of wood and iron patterns and castings; bedroom and kitchen grates and ranges, grates, bar and round iron and steel, filing and dressing benches, screw plates, stocks and dies, chasing and sundry tools, four recently erected smithy hearths, new wrought-iron crane, four pairs of bellows and water tue irons, anvils blocks, the usual smith's tools, and numerous other articles connected with the business; the office furniture, and fittings, &c.
